It verified his identity but was ultimately inconclusive regarding his age. The Twins organization stayed after Sano, determining that if he was not 16, he was close enough for it not to matter, and in September of 2009 signed him for $3.15 million, the largest bonus the organization has ever staked on an international signing, after which Sano bought his family a new home in a better part of San Pedro.
