This year there’s a huge 1962 dinner-plate pink called 'Emory Paul’, from the late Christopher Lloyd’s Great Dixter garden. Lloyd loved bright, brash dahlias, and regularly planted the quilled purple-pink 'Hillcrest Royal’. Fergus Garrett, who is on the RHS dahlia panel with me, is a real enthusiast too. As a result, Great Dixter is still a dahlia paradise.
